Cameron Sibert’21, Journalism, anchors the morning news for KOCO5 in Oklahoma City, OK, covering breaking news, traffic, and general assignments. He works with producers on rundowns and script writing, conducting live interviews, and maintaining relationships with public figures. Prior positions include being a multi-media journalist/reporter and weekend anchor/producer in Beaumont, TX at KBMT. While he was a student, Cameron completed a summer sports internship with 98.5 The Sports Hub.
While at UMass, Cameron:
-Was sports director for 91.1 FM WMUA Sports
-Did broadcasting with UMass Sports Network/ESPN+
-Completed independent studies with Greeley Kyle doing mock broadcasts
-Was a staff writer for the Daily Collegian
Cameron says: I really felt like my time at UMass set me up for success, and taught me a lot. The opportunities with WMUA and with Greeley Kyle in his broadcasting classes gave me the practice and skills I use everyday with my job, where I’ve already experienced great career growth in the few years since graduation. I would highly recommend the journalism program at UMass to anyone interested in joining the field.
